Upper Madison College (UMC) is seeking energetic, professional, and student-centered ESL Instructors to join our 2026 Summer Camp Program in Toronto. This position is ideal for educators who are passionate about teaching international students in a dynamic, multicultural, and activity-based learning environment.
The Summer Camp ESL Instructor will be responsible for delivering engaging English lessons that emphasize communication, fluency, confidence-building, and active participation. Instructors will also support student integration through interactive classroom activities, cultural experiences, and collaborative learning opportunities.
Our Summer Camp program welcomes international junior learners and combines English language instruction with cultural immersion, excursions, and themed programming designed to create a memorable educational experience.
Duties
- Develop and implement engaging ESL lesson plans tailored to students’ proficiency levels and learning styles
- Conduct individual and group tutoring sessions to enhance language skills
- Assess students’ progress regularly and provide constructive feedback
- Create a supportive classroom environment that encourages participation and confidence
- Incorporate educational technology and resources to enrich lessons
- Collaborate with colleagues to design curriculum improvements and share best practices
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and assessments
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of learners from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Support early childhood education initiatives by designing age-appropriate activities for young learners
- Work with children in early childhood education settings, ensuring a nurturing and effective learning experience
Qualifications
- Prior experience in tutoring or teaching ESL is preferred
- Strong background in teaching, with a focus on language acquisition techniques
- Experience working with children or in early childhood education is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills and patience when working with learners of all ages
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans that cater to various learning styles
- Passion for education and helping others succeed in language learning endeavors
- Certification in TESOL, TEFL, or related fields is a plus but not required
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
