About the Position
We are seeking an Abatement Laborer to join our team of demolition and environmental abatement experts. This position is ideal for someone who is looking to start an exciting career within the construction industry. As an Abatement Laborer, you will be responsible for demolition, remediation and abatement work ensuring compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations, company policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Set up hazardous material containment areas.
- Safely remove hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead paint, mold, and other contaminants using proper procedures and equipment.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment to perform demolition, removal, and disposal tasks.
- Conduct cleaning and decontamination procedures to ensure work areas meet safety standards.
- Work on abatement projects in both industrial, commercial and residential environments.
- Follow company safety policies and regulatory procedures for hazardous material removal.
- Communicate with team members and assist in ensuring proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste.
- Adhere to all provincial and local compliance standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge in hazardous materials abatement and remediation preferred.
- Construction industry experience would be an asset.
- Able to obtain a Secret Level Security Clearance an asset.
- Willingness to travel to different job sites.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment such as full face respirator and tyvek suit.
- Ability to lift 30-50 lbs unaided.
- Must be able to commute to and from job sites with own forces.
