Operations Manager

A growing and fast-paced organization in the consumer goods and wholesale distribution industry is seeking an experienced and hands-on Operations Manager to lead and support core operational functions across purchasing, logistics, compliance, and supply chain operations.
This role is ideal for a collaborative and proactive leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys balancing strategic planning with day-to-day operational involvement. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving operational efficiency, supporting company growth, and ensuring seamless execution across multiple departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support team members within purchasing, logistics, and compliance functions while remaining actively involved in daily operations
- Oversee purchasing and import activities to ensure accurate and on-time order fulfillment
- Manage compliance initiatives related to factories, products, brands, and customer requirements
- Develop and implement efficient operational strategies aligned with both short- and long-term business objectives
- Establish and improve supply chain KPIs, reporting structures, and operational processes to drive continuous improvement
- Implement and support just-in-time inbound processes and inventory flow strategies
- Coordinate inbound logistics, transportation, customs requirements, and duty-related processes
- Maintain regular communication with overseas factories and suppliers to support shipment timelines and operational expectations
- Lead operational projects including customer onboarding, system implementations, EDI setup/testing, and process enhancements
- Identify operational risks and develop solutions to minimize disruptions and improve overall performance
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional departments to ensure operational alignment and efficiency
- Support future company growth by forecasting operational and infrastructure requirements
- Foster a workplace culture centered on accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and safety
- Provide coaching, development, and leadership support to operational team members
- Maintain strong communication with senior leadership regarding operational performance and priorities
- Assume overall responsibility for operational processes and day-to-day execution
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant post-secondary education and/or a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar operations leadership role
- Strong background in wholesale, retail distribution, logistics, supply chain, or related operational environments
- Experience working with 3PL providers and transportation partners
- Knowledge of purchasing, importing, customs processes, and supply chain operations
- Understanding of customer EDI orders and warehouse EDI processes
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite experience is considered an asset
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Must reside within approximately 50 km of Oakville, Ontario
