Mechanical Assembler – Custom Machinery
Pay Rate: $28.00/hour | Temporary with Strong Potential for Permanent Employment
Location: Richmond, BC
We are currently hiring a Mechanical Assembler to join a leading manufacturer of custom industrial equipment in Richmond, BC.
This role is ideal for a mechanically skilled individual with experience in equipment assembly, millwright work, electro-mechanical systems, or industrial machinery. You will work on engineered-to-order equipment, assembling custom machine lines and sub-assemblies from technical drawings and specifications.
This is not a repetitive production assembly role. Every project is unique, requiring strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and build complex equipment.
This position is initially temporary, with strong potential for permanent employment for the right candidate.
What You'll Do
- Assemble custom machinery, machine components, and sub-assemblies using hand and power tools
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical documentation
- Install, fit, align, and adjust mechanical components according to engineering specifications
- Perform mechanical troubleshooting and identify assembly issues during the build process
- Work with pneumatic systems, mechanical components, and basic electrical layouts
- Use measuring tools and follow quality control procedures
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve assembly processes
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
What We're Looking For (Must Have)
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Assembler, Electro-Mechanical Assembler, Millwright, Machine Builder, or similar mechanical role
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how machinery and components work together
- Experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Hands-on experience using hand and power tools
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform adjustments during assembly
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Nice to Have
- Millwright certification or mechanical trade background
- Experience building custom machinery or industrial equipment
- Knowledge of pneumatic and electrical systems
- Fabrication or welding experience (TIG welding is an asset)
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
