Job Overview
New Home Design Specialist (BCIN Certified). We are seeking a talented New Home Design Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role requires a Building Code Identification Number (BCIN) certification to produce and sign off on in-house construction drawings. You will take residential projects from initial concept through to permit-ready blueprints.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Concepts: Create functional, beautiful residential floor plans.
- Working Drawings: Produce complete, permit-ready construction document packages.
- Code Compliance: Ensure all designs meet Ontario Building Code regulations.
- In-House Coordination: Collaborate with VP of Construction, VP of Sales, Owners and structural engineers and municipal planners.
Qualifications
- Certification: Valid BCIN qualification (House / Small Buildings category minimum).
- Experience: 5+ years of residential architectural design experience.
- Software: High proficiency in AutoCAD, Chief Architect, or Revit.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of modern wood-frame construction methods.
- Skills: Excellent communication and visual presentation abilities.
- Develop black lines for sales/marketing purposes.
- Prepare concepts, preliminary and detailed design drawings.
- Designs to meet project specifications and budgets.
- Ensure that all designs are carried out to specific standards, building codes, guidelines, and regulations.
- Prepare grading/plot plans.
- 5-10 years proven design experience with a residential builder or within an architectural office.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Part 9 of the Ontario Building Code.
- BCIN registration or degree in Architecture.
- Excellent design and drafting skills utilizing AutoCAD or similar software.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively develop relationships with Municipal Building Department officials.
Salary: dependent on qualifications and experience.
Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
