We have a fantastic opportunity available to support our Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) team in Edmonton, Alberta - the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Coordinator has direct functional reporting to the HSEQ & Continuous Improvement Manager (Americas), with additional indirect reporting to the onsite General Manager – Canada West. The HSE Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting and ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards within the organization.
The incumbent will be adept at working within a team and assists in the management of the HSEQ responsibilities and ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements in Western Canada and towards all related work for Score (Canada) Ltd. The HSE Coordinator will comply with legislative requirements while carrying out their assigned duties. All work shall be carried out in accordance with company policies, procedures and work instructions. They shall provide technical support to the internal Sales and Production teams, and to other divisions within the Score Group of companies as required.

Main roles & Responsibilities:
Business Need & Purpose of Role
- Coordination of all Health & Safety activities for the business, ensuring compliance with Group and local legal policies and systems.
- Cross train in QC Inspector duties to provide coverage as needed
All Workers:
- Carry out their work in a manner that will not create a hazard to their own health and safety or the health and safety of other workers.
- Assist site supervisors to reduce and control unsafe conditions and acts on the work site.
- Report any incidents, unsafe acts or unsafe conditions immediately to their supervisor so corrective measures can be implemented.
- Report any anticipated loss of work time to their supervisor as soon as possible after being treated by a physician following injury.
- Comply with legislative requirements while carrying out their assigned duties.
Health and Safety Coordinators:
- Are responsible for the daily administration of the program on site.
- Post all health and safety bulletins, posters, rules and applicable legislation.
- Establish inspection schedules.
- Conduct workplace inspection on monthly basis.
- Ensure daily, monthly, quarterly inspections are completed by operations team.
- File a copy of inspection checklists and equipment/vehicle inspection reports.
- Maintain a list of health and safety equipment purchased.
- Assist HSEQ Lead to investigate incidents and to prepare incident reports and summaries including corrective actions.
- Follow-up to ensure that any identified corrective actions have been completed whenever deficiencies (incidents and unsafe acts/conditions) are identified or reported.
- Ensure that pertinent reports are submitted as required.
- Monitor and track all HSE tools – START cards, ALL conversations, safety observations, and BASIX
- Assist with health and safety seminars or training (i.e. driver improvement, confined space, fall protection, etc.) where applicable.
- Responsible for training matrix and scheduling all relevant training &/ recertification courses for all personnel and liaising information to key stakeholders
- Maintain current knowledge of health and safety literature, legislation and Codes of Practice.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- 3+ years of relevant HSE experience
- Education in Health & Safety preferred
- NCSO certification or equivalent, or working towards, is preferred.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clear drivers abstract
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Intelligent, with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional communication skills are necessary both oral and written; proven ability to work effectively in a matrix environment.
- Capable of quickly establishing credibility and persuading professionals at all levels.
- Proven ability to work to deadlines.
- Must be familiar with provincial employment/privacy standards.
- Proficient in the use of internet and Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent relationship building skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of verbal and written English language required
Working Conditions:
- Indoor office environment 90% of the time.
- Some travel may be required.
