Job Overview
The Intermediate Accounting Analyst is responsible for performing a variety of accounting duties, preparing and reviewing monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, supporting month end close and Management reporting deliverables, and assisting with audit engagements and financial statement preparation. This role plays a critical part in ensuring financial accuracy, supporting strategic decision-making, and strengthening internal controls within a complex financial environment.
Role

Accurately prepare and book monthly recurring and non-recurring journal entries that may include but not limited to cash, prepaids, assets, accruals, third party lending, expected credit loss modeling, securitization, foreign exchange analysis and managed funds

Diligently prepare various financial statement account reconciliations, obtain the necessary detailed transactions for the account and investigate and correct reconciling items

Assist management to meticulously review account reconciliations submitted by various departments to ensure accuracy and correcting all detected errors or omissions

Utilize analytical review techniques when reviewing journal entries, account activity, and account reconciliations, and overall month-end results compared to budget to ensure accurate reporting by identifying discrepancies or errors

Liaise with Treasury and Financial Performance to ensure that day-today transactions are recorded in an accurate and timely manner, which may include, but is not limited to, cash transfers between HISA accounts, cash swaps, repo transactions, and securitization related wire transfers

Methodically review GL allocation and department code accuracy, HST self assessments, and AP initiated wires

Provide insight into process inefficiencies and recommend process improvement strategies, which may include automation opportunities, working paper improvements, and development of KPI's

Preparing various monthly financial reports and adhoc reports that support business decisions

Maintain audit-ready documentation and liaise with auditors to support efficient and accurate audit execution

Support new projects that add value to the organization

Build and utilize working relationships with internal stakeholders across the organization

Consider healthsafety as a primary concern to ensure the safety of self and others

Perform other duties as required
Required Skills
-
Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting, finance or business and either be on a path to achieve your accounting designation (CPA) or have your CPA (CMA or CGA)

Minimum of four (4) years' experience in finance or accounting, in a financial institution or public accounting firm would be an asset

Apply your knowledge of financial accounting principles to everything that you do

Expert in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office products

Be comfortable using General Ledger software; example D365
-
Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

Demonstrate a high level of integrity and be trustworthy

Superior written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to take action in difficult and challenging situations and deal with uncertainty

Be aware of and mitigate enterprise risk factors and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, legislation and FirstOntario policies and procedures

Salary Range: $69,931 to $96,155 annually.
Compensation for this role reflects a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Those whose experience more closely aligns the role's requirements may be placed higher within the salary range.
