The YouthCALL Outreach Assistant will play a key role in supporting youth across Simcoe County by providing outreach, engagement, and connection to mental health and wellbeing supports. This position involves working closely with the YouthCALL team to meet youth where they are, in community spaces and through mobile outreach.
The ideal candidate will be an energetic and creative individual with a passion for working with youth. They will have strong interpersonal skills, an interest in community-based work, and the ability to connect with youth in meaningful and engaging ways. This person will be adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable working in dynamic environments.
Under the direction of the YouthCALL Lead, this position will:
· Participate in outreach shifts on the YouthCALL van, engaging youth and building rapport
· Provide information, support, and referrals to youth accessing services
· Support youth drop-in programming and community-based activities
· Assist in responding to immediate needs during outreach (e.g., food insecurity, basic needs)
· Contribute to the planning and implementation of youth engagement initiatives and events
· Create and support social media content to promote YouthCALL services and youth wellbeing
· Work collaboratively with community partners and support outreach in shared spaces (e.g., libraries, schools, community hubs)
· Maintain appropriate documentation in alignment with program and agency standards
Qualifications
Must meet Canada Summer Jobs eligibility requirements:
- Between 15–30 years of age at the start of employment
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection
Additional Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., social work, psychology, community development) is considered an asset
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Creativity and confidence in social media content creation (e.g., Instagram, TikTok)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to adapt to community-based and outreach environments
- Valid driver’s licence is required
