We are seeking an experienced Legal File Administrator / Law Clerk to join a dynamic legal team. Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain legal files with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring all documents are properly organized, filed, and easily accessible.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using tools such as LexisNexis to support case preparation and legal analysis.
- Draft, review, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, correspondence, and reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established standards.
- Assist with data entry tasks related to case management systems such as iManage and other document management platforms.
- Support project management activities by coordinating deadlines, tracking case progress, and facilitating communication among team members.
- Perform clerical duties including filing, scanning, photocopying, and maintaining accurate records in compliance with firm policies.
- Conduct interviews with clients or witnesses as needed to gather pertinent information for ongoing cases.
- Utilize strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when communicating with clients, vendors, or external partners.
- Support administrative functions by managing calendars, scheduling appointments, and preparing meeting materials.
Skills
- Must have litigation experience.
- Minimum of five years of experience as a Law Clerk or Legal File Administrator within a law firm or corporate legal department.
- NetDocs and Aderant experience is an asset.
- Proficiency in legal research tools such as LexisNexis.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Excellent proofreading and writing skills for drafting clear and precise legal documents.
- Knowledge of legal procedures including filing protocols and document retention policies.
- Ability to perform detailed research and data entry accurately.
- Effective interviewing skills for gathering information from clients or witnesses.
- Demonstrated clerical experience with a focus on administrative support functions.
- Familiarity with project management principles within a legal context.
- Strong phone etiquette coupled with professional communication skills.
