The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient/resident response. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient/resident, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN facilitates patient/resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity. The RN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department Nursing experience. Must have recent experience (within the past 2 years) in a high-volume Urban Emergency Department or Rural Emergency Department; Equivalent ICU/CCU experience may be considered. Proficiency in resuscitation and/or trauma team care with associated training and demonstrated clinical experience required. Proven competency in cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia recognition and accurate interpretation of ECG’s. Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, organization, and documentation skills and the ability to manage multiple patients in a fast paced, high acuity environment. In this position, you will be on your feet for an extended period of time (both walking and standing), and you must be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning patients. You will also be required to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Recent experience in a high-volume Urban Emergency Department is an asset. ED charge nurse experience preferred. Triage experience preferred. One (1) or more of the following active certifications: ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, PALS, ENA Emergency Certificate, NRP, ITLS. ACCN completion. ENPEP completion.
