The Opportunity
Otter Wise Talent Solutions is recruiting 3rd and 4th Year Carpenter Apprentices for a major industrial construction project in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
This is an outstanding opportunity for apprentices looking to gain valuable experience working alongside experienced Journeyperson Carpenters on complex industrial concrete formwork projects. You'll continue developing your trade while contributing to the construction of critical industrial infrastructure in a safety-first environment.
Whether you're entering your third year or preparing to complete your apprenticeship, this role offers the opportunity to expand your skills, work on large-scale industrial projects, and receive mentorship from experienced trades professionals.
Union Membership
This position is performed under a collective agreement.
Successful candidates will be required to become members of the applicable trade union (if they are not already members) and maintain union membership as a condition of employment.
The applicable collective agreement governs wages, overtime, vacation pay, pension contributions, benefits, union dues, apprenticeship training, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Compensation & Benefits
Depending on your registered apprenticeship level, you'll receive one of the following union compensation packages:
3rd Year Carpenter Apprentice
- Total Union Compensation Package: $54.23/hour
4th Year Carpenter Apprentice
- Total Union Compensation Package: $59.99/hour

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with layout, construction, installation, and removal of concrete formwork.
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install formwork materials.
- Assist with foundations, walls, columns, slabs, equipment foundations, and structural concrete work.
- Read and interpret construction drawings under the supervision of Journeyperson Carpenters.
- Safely operate hand and power tools used in formwork construction.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas.
- Follow all company and site safety procedures.
- Continue progressing through your apprenticeship while gaining valuable industrial construction experience.
Qualifications Required
- Registered Alberta 3rd or 4th Year Carpenter Apprentice (or equivalent provincial apprenticeship program).
- Previous industrial construction experience preferred.
- Concrete formwork experience considered an asset.
- Valid CSTS 2020.
- Valid Fall Protection certification.
- Valid Confined Space certification.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors.
