The Bertossi Group is seeking an Experienced Sous Chef at Ristorante a Mano to help us carry on our tradition of creating award-winning hospitality! The Bertossi Group has set the standard for authentic Italian cuisine in Halifax for over 30 years, with four current destination restaurants: Ristorante a Mano, The Bicycle Thief, La Frasca Cibi & Vini & il Mercato Trattoria, as well as two luxury Cafes: Pane e Circo.
In 2024, The Bertossi Group opened two brand new restaurants in Downtown Halifax; globally inspired seafood restaurant Water Polo, and Matadora Tapas Bar, which have quickly become two of the city's busiest restaurants.
We will be opening one more high volume, fine dining Italian restaurant in September 2025 on Spring Garden Road, and we are looking for talented Sous Chefs to join our team!

Our Sous Chefs are experienced culinary professionals, who have 3-5 years of previous Sous Chef or Chef de Cuisine experience in fast-paced, high volume, fine dining restaurants. Our Sous Chefs are responsible for leading, motivating and engaging the team by executing the highest standard of culinary excellence, while running their sections.
Our Sous Chefs are also responsible for assisting in the training & development of the cooks, while ensuring the highest quality standards for culinary production, cleanliness, labour control and food hygiene. You’ll bring professional, enthusiastic ownership to the menu each day; and contribute to the incredible success of one of Atlantic Canada's leading restaurants!
The Day to Day:
- Inspire excellence for all team members, while ensuring The Bertossi Group’s dedication to incredible hospitality & spectacular cuisine is met at all levels
- Actively monitors culinary operations, cleanliness & food hygiene standards
- Assisting with ordering, food & labour costs and inventory management
- Develops innovative menu offerings, including features, for the busiest restaurants in Halifax
- Assists in training & development initiatives as well as staff management & coaching
- Ensures proper health and safety procedures are followed by all team members
