Role Description
This role provides leadership for the overall operations and strategic direction of the Chamber. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing staff and volunteers, overseeing office administration, and ensuring the effective delivery of programs and services to members.
The Executive Director leads the development and implementation of strategic and annual plans, manages budgets, prepares reports for the Board, and supports strong governance practices.
As the primary representative of the Chamber, the Executive Director builds and maintains relationships with members, local businesses, government representatives, and community partners, while representing the organization at meetings, events, and public forums.
The role also includes managing and operating the Fort Nelson Visitor Centre, coordinating events, marketing, and communications initiatives that promote member engagement and the local business community, as well as identifying and securing funding opportunities, sponsorships, and partnerships to support Chamber activities.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience, including supervising teams, managing projects, and working with a Board of Directors
- Strong strategic planning and organizational development skills, including goal setting, action planning, and performance measurement
- Financial management experience, including budgeting, financial oversight, and reporting
- Excellent communication skills, including writing, public speaking, and facilitating meetings and presentations
- Proven ability to build relationships and engage stakeholders across business, government, and community sectors
- Experience in event planning, marketing, and member engagement initiatives
- Proficiency with office software, email and calendar systems, and digital communication platforms, including social media
- Experience in a chamber of commerce, non-profit, municipal, or economic development environment is an asset
