Position Overview
This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work.
As the Product Manager for Messaging, you will advocate for a team dedicated to distributing content that speaks to all Canadians. As the sole product lead for the team, you will seamlessly handle both Product Manager (strategy/discovery) and Product Owner (tactical/execution) functions. You will act as a bridge between complex technical systems and strategic audience experiences, expertly translating technical constraints for non-technical stakeholders and vice versa.
You are or wish to be a user-obsessed, data driven Product Manager. You possess a high level of comfort working on technical products, a proven work methodology and established leadership experience. You have solid technical acumen and deep empathy with your end users.
If you want the chance to bring a vision to life, to take ideas from concept and design to development and launch, it’s time to join this team.
Key Areas of Impact
Strategic leadership: You will own the product roadmap and ensure alignment with CBC’s broader digital strategy. You will ensure the product team understands the strategy and feels a sense of ownership over their contributions.
Evangelism: You will be an evangelist for the build, measure, and learn cycle, frequently organizing and presenting the team’s findings and successes. You will champion and facilitate the use of user testing and audience feedback throughout product development.
Agile product development: You will create and manage the team’s product backlog, epics, and user stories to deliver maximum value towards CBC’s priorities and objectives. This includes generating tickets and writing user stories that accurately reflect partner and user needs.
Vendor selection and implementation: In 2026-27, you will lead a procurement process to select a multi-channel marketing platform for CBC Radio-Canada, with support from internal partners, senior management, and external consultants. Following a successful contract negotiation, you will lead the Messaging team in migrating to the chosen platform, and collaborate with Learning & Development to train internal users of the platform.
Risk management & problem solving: You’ll identify and brainstorm solutions for product risks related to value, viability, usability (in collaboration with UX Design and Research), and feasibility (with the Technical Lead). You will actively remove obstacles that could impede product priorities, goals, or vision.
Release oversight & quality assurance: You will oversee and monitor releases, ensuring quality validation with the team. You’ll monitor product releases and operations to maintain consistent quality of service for CBC users, which includes fielding questions and investigating support issues to determine necessary next steps and feature evolutions.
Communication: You’ll consistently communicate delivery progress clearly and consistently to relevant stakeholders.
Measurement: You will measure and track value of delivered work, including adoption and use of new features and progress on objectives and key results.
