Ballard Power System requires a co-op student (8-month term) to assist in the development and improvement of manufacturing processes (MEA process) including but not limited to production data analysis, statistical analysis, and monitoring of new and current production processes.
Responsibilities:
The student will be responsible for:
- Assisting in design, develop, implement, and troubleshoot new and existing manufacturing test and assembly processes
- Assisting in design, specify and commission assembly fixtures and develop test macros and protocols.
- Assisting in projects to improve manufacturing capability, yields, productivity, and capacity.
- Developing shop floor work instructions/build sheets, process flows and quality control document; and
- Analyzing and presenting test results

- Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Engineering Physics
- Chemical Engineering
- Materials Engineering
Key skills include:
- Ability to work in the lab or production floor, be very “hands on”
- Eagerness to learn and take initiatives
- Testing of electrical/mechanical components or assemblies
- Data analysis using Excel and data presentation
- Strong oral and written communication ability
- Basic understanding of lean manufacturing is an asset
- Experience with Excel Pivot tables along with programming experience in Python, VBA
