The Opportunity
The Food Service Worker serves quality and nutritious meals to our residents ensuring that each resident is provided their individual nutritional requirements while creating a positive, vibrant and engaging mealtime experience. This position must ensure compliance with the dietary services section of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Facilities Program & Retirement Homes Act and provide exceptional customer service and engagement while creating a pleasurable dining experience for our residents.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Create a pleasurable dining experience by creating a welcoming and social environment that provides opportunities for active participation and engagement.
- Prepares and sets up the dining room for meals.
- Serving meals to residents according to individual diets and preferences as indicated in the Therapeutic spreadsheets and kardex.
- Provides excellent customer service in a respectful, courteous and pleasant manner.
- Works co-operatively with team members.
- All members of the interdisciplinary care team work closely together to address residents’ nutrition and hydration needs and to create a pleasurable dining experience.
- Remove dishes from the table after each course (total of three courses at each meal), at the end of the meal, clear the dining room and wash and sanitize tables.
- Perform dish ware-washing duties of all dishes used during mealtime.
- Maintains a clean and sanitized work area.
- Prepares nourishment cart according to diet types and textures.
The Ideal Candidate
- Possesses a Food Service Worker Certificate or in process of completion (within 2 years).
- Safe Food Handling Certificate and commitment to maintain/renew based on Public Health’s requirements.
- Smart Serve Certified.
- Must maintain an up to date immunization record including COVID-19 vaccination series and annual influenza vaccination.
- Vulnerable Sector Criminal background check indicating that you do not have a criminal record.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
- Must be able to work, days, evenings, and weekends as required.
Hours
This is a full time opportunity, includes alternate weekends and STAT holidays as required, shifts include 5:30am-1:30pm, 10:30am-6:30pm, 10:45am-6:45pm and 11am-7pm.
