Role Overview
The Construction Foreman orchestrates landscaping and irrigation installation projects by overseeing landscapers and Lead Hands. You will lead by example, actively engaging in construction tasks and operating machinery while remaining ready to fulfill any role within the crew as required. You are responsible for meticulously planning and driving the team's daily schedule to ensure clarity, efficiency, and optimized productivity.
Compensation will be based on experience.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Execution
- Strategic Planning: Review job packages (designs, estimates, material lists) and formulate a plan of action based on estimated hours and production rates.
- Site Layout: Skillfully interpret drawings and execute precise site layouts according to design specifications—including grades and survey points—using plans, lasers, Zip Levels, GPS, and rover technology.
- Logistics & Procurement: Coordinate material delivery, staging, and haul-outs with the Logistics Manager; ensure site organization for incoming materials and upload all waybills.
- Technical Mastery: Demonstrate expert-level knowledge and hands-on skill in all aspects of landscape construction, including grading, hardscape, concrete, carpentry, planting, and finishes.
- Administrative Oversight: Maintain detailed timesheets, accurate daily load counts, site achievement lists, and daily production plans.
- Financial Accountability: Provide feedback to estimators on material and production rates; coordinate supply orders with an understanding of costs and benefits to meet revenue and production targets.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Crew Direction: Organize the team’s daily schedule, issue concise instructions, and proactively set out the next set of tasks to minimize downtime.
- Development: Foster a culture of accountability by providing team members with training, coaching, and constructive feedback to facilitate continuous improvement.
- Client Relations: Act as the primary on-site contact for clients, resolving issues constructively and handling change order requests through appropriate procedures.
- Resource Management: Organize complex jobs involving subcontractors and technical features while utilizing company resources (office, trucking, watering) to reduce operational strain.
Safety & Equipment Care
- Safety Protocols: Complete the "new job site safety package," conduct daily Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA), and lead Toolbox Meetings for all on-site personnel.
- Training: Teach Safe Work Practices (SWP) and Safe Job Procedures (SJP) to employees; ensure proper PPE is available and used on-site.
- Equipment Care: Ensure basic machine maintenance is completed and tools are neatly organized or put away at the end of each day.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 4 years of experience preferably in the landscape industry. Journeyman status considered a asset
- Technical Requirements: Capable of effectively managing a minimum of 4 people, Ability to read, scale, and layout accurately from blueprints, Excellent communication skills.
- Performance: Ability to manage projects to reach specific revenue thresholds
- Training: Must maintain valid First Aid certification and have completed LSE, GD2, and Load Securement training.
- Software/Systems: Completed Core Values, Fleetio/Equipment, and Site Docs training.
