We currently have both a full and part-time opening on our Pet Care Team.
Part-Time:
- Monday to Friday mornings 6am-12pm at our Killarney location.
Full Time:
- 6:00 a.m. -2:30 p.m. at our Killarney Location.
The role of the Pet Care Team Member at The Petropolitan requires a self-motivated individual who thrives working independently but can also collaborate and communicate well with members of your team. This position requires a detail-oriented individual that can multi-task; one must be aware of the behavioral quirks of the guests they're supervising, attentive to any potential changes in the health and wellness of our guests and proactively rotate our guests through their scheduled activities throughout their shift.
Tasks may include: supervising play groups of guests while ensuring their safety and well-being, providing feline guests love and attention, walking dogs, cleaning and maintenance tasks, administering medications and preparing meals. This fun position requires a desire to learn, ability to listen, commitment to quality care, and a love for animals! The ability to stand for long periods of time, and continuous walking, bending & lifting is required.
Qualified Candidates:
- Are friendly, welcoming, professional and energetic. Shifts at The Pet can vary between incredibly busy or quite slow depending on the volume of pets in care. This role requires someone who can proactively complete pet care and house keeping responsibilities when shifts are busy or slow.
- Have a basic understanding of dog breeds and the behavior and play styles of dogs of different breeds.
- Be attentive to the smallest details and be an effective communicator. The quality of care we are able to provide guests depends on your ability to actively listen, observe and communicate.
- Demonstrate an exceptional level of professionalism with your peers and our clients.
- Team work, the ability to take direction and constructive criticism to make your job easier and the client’s experience better.
Qualified Candidates have the ability to:
- Supervise, exercise and engage a play group of up to 20 dogs in an assigned play room.
- Work independently and proactively while on shift with infrequent engagement with peers. Our playrooms are separated so you must be competent enough to work on your own for short periods of time.
- Be comfortable working under surveillance.
- Be able to work in an active environment and be on your feet for several hours at a time.
- Enjoy working with animals and look forward to handling and caring for animals of all sizes and breeds.
- Be able to identify and execute cleaning tasks as required throughout the shift.
- Ensure that all health concerns and medical needs are accurately recorded and communicated.
Education and Experience:
- Customer Service, Pet Care, or Hospitality experience preferred
- Articulate and pleasant conversational in-person demeanor
- High school diploma required (or in progress), post-secondary enrollment an asset

Shifts: Part Time and Full Time
Salary: $15.00-$17.00 depending on job experience and training.
