Job Description: We are now hiring an experienced CNC Machinist to join our client in the steel industry! The successful candidate will be skilled in operating and programming CNC lathes & milling machines, ensuring high-quality production and exceptional machine performance.
This role requires a strong background in CNC machining, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work independently to meet production goals with minimal oversight.
Job Location: Hamilton, ON
Job Type: Full-time, permanent.
Shift Structure: Day shift – 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (Monday to Friday)
Compensation: $35.00 an hour/$72, 800 annually to start.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate and program CNC engine lathes and milling machines to produce precision machined components in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances for machined components according to specifications
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and technical documents
- Assemble and fit machine parts to precise tolerances
- Inspect, maintain, and calibrate precision measuring instruments
- Identify and report any deviations from specifications and tolerances
- Maintain accurate inspection records and complete detailed reports
- Measure machined parts using precision tools such as micrometers and calipers
- Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Maintain organized records of setups, tooling offsets, and production data.
- Follow all safety procedures, quality protocols, and company standards.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Candidates with Machinist Trade Certification/Machinist Red Seal endorsement are considered a strong asset.
- Must have atleast 5 years of experience within handling engine lathes, milling machines, CNC machines and CAD programs.
- Must have a WHMIS certificate.
- Candidates must have their own set of tools, as well as proper PPE including safety boots and hearing protection.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. as required and perform repetitive tasks
- Must be able to utilize measuring tools such as micrometers and verniers
- Ability to develop and edit CNC programs effectively, including adjustments during production.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with reading blueprints, engineering drawings, and geometric tolerancing (GD&T) is an asset.
- Must be able to work in fast-paced, physically demanding work settings.
Desired Skills:
- Previous experience with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, Esprit, or similar would be considered a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling selection, and inspection techniques.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies.
