We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Manager to lead our maintenance team and ensure the optimal functioning of all shop and field equipment, facilities, and building systems. This role is part of a dynamic and engaged operations team and is responsible for the repair, upkeep, and preventive maintenance of machinery and infrastructure to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
Reporting to the V.P., Plant Operations, this position serves as the central coordination point between senior management, vendors, contractors, and staff. Key responsibilities include overseeing the inspection, maintenance, and repair of all shop and site equipment, safety gear, a fleet of 25+ vehicles, and the structural steel fabrication facility. The role also manages procurement of supplies and parts, including purchase orders, and supervises cleaning and facility maintenance staff to ensure work is completed on schedule and to a high standard in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven industrial environment.
Responsibilities
Preventative Maintenance & Equipment Oversight

Develop and manage a comprehensive preventative maintenance schedule for all fabrication machinery and equipment at our plant, small tools, and site gear.

Monitor and adjust maintenance intervals based on performance data and manufacturer guidelines.

Coordinate inspections and diagnostics on cranes, forklifts, trailers, welding systems, and heavy-duty fabrication equipment.

Maintain a strong understanding that supporting production uptime is the top priority in all maintenance decision-making.

Align all maintenance scheduling, repairs, and resource allocation to minimize downtime and production disruption.
Team Leadership & Training

Lead and hold maintenance team accountable for performance, response times and quality of work. Assign tasks, and ensure adherence to safety and operational standards.

Set clear expectations and provide ongoing training and mentorship to technicians on equipment handling, diagnostics, and safety protocols.
Troubleshooting & Prioritization

Lead root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.

Ensure timely and effective resolution of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.

Effectively triage multiple competing maintenance issues in a fast-paced environment.

Balance planned maintenance with emergent production/site issues and make real-time prioritization decisions.
Compliance & Safety Oversight

Enforce compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Conduct regular safety audits and ensure all maintenance activities meet internal and external standards.
Inventory & Procurement

Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement of tools, components, and consumables.

Maintain vendor relationships and negotiate service contracts when needed.
Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.

Own equipment reliability metrics including uptime, downtime, and maintenance response.

Be accountable for continuous improvement in equipment performance and maintenance efficiency.
Budgeting & Cost Control

Assist in developing the maintenance budget and monitor expenditures.

Make cost-effective decisions regarding repair vs. replace, vendor selection, and internal vs. external work.

Identify cost-saving opportunities through efficient maintenance practices and vendor management.
Continuous Improvement

Collaborate with various stake holders to improve equipment reliability and plant efficiency.

Recommend upgrades or replacements based on lifecycle analysis and performance trends.
Emergency Response

Coordinate emergency repairs and ensure rapid response to minimize production impact.

Develop contingency plans for critical equipment failures.
Technology Integration

Implement and manage CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) or other digital tools for tracking and scheduling.

Stay updated on new technologies and maintenance best practices.
