The Role
*Annualized salary would be equivalent to $89,356 - $91,728 + benefits, paid vacation, pension, and other perks*
Reporting to the Supervisor, Facilities, the Building Operator (Trades) is responsible to work under minimal supervision to maintain work orders and carryout the day-to-day repairs and on-going preventative maintenance program for all City owned facilities systems specific to their trade.
The Building Operator identifies and reports system deficiencies and unsafe working conditions and uses safe work practices at all times in accordance with City policies and procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
To qualify, you'll need...
High School (Grade 12) graduation or equivalent
Five (5) years of commercial maintenance & trouble shooting experience in applicable trade
Qualification for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic (Red Seal)
Gas Technician License 1 or 2 issued under the Technical Standards and Safety Act
Experience with Building Automation Systems an asset
Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate an asset
Compliance related training such as: Aerial Lift Training, Confined Space, Fall Arrest and Designated Substance (Asbestos) Awareness, Type 1 Abatement Training an asset
Must demonstrate corporate values of Belonging, Collaboration, Accountability, and Innovation
Proven knowledge of and experience using Computerized Maintenance Management systems, working within a preventative maintenance service environment utilizing associated software applications
Ability to work with limited supervision in a team environment or independently
Ability to use effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with proven customer service skills
Ability to prepare correspondence, estimates, quotes and tenders using Microsoft and other computerized applications
Ability to read and interpret drawings (blue prints) for existing and new construction/renovation
Read and interpret policy and procedure manuals and building specific operations manuals
Ability to problem solve and ensure timely preparations/repairs with minimal downtime
Ability to work with all tools and equipment as required within the respective trade
Respond to building emergencies during evenings and weekends and participate in the “on-call” process
Must be in good physical condition and able to work outside in inclement weather conditions
Basic computer skills/ability to work with a computer as a programming and troubleshooting tools and proven comprehension of BAS and CMMS software applications
Good knowledge of Fire Code, CSA Standards and Health & Safety Regulations
Must possess and maintain a valid class “G” driver’s licence
Available to respond to building emergencies during evenings and weekends on an "on-call" basis
Will be required to work a minimal number of evening shifts over the course of the year (Monday to Friday) on a rotational basis
Required to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check, including vulnerable sector
