Jardeg is currently recruiting for a Journeyperson Carpenter Lead-Hand to join our Buildings team! This position is located in New Westminster, BC, and does not have camp accommodations, travel allowance, or living out allowance. This is a 5 and 2 schedule with the possibility of working afternoons, evenings and weekends, per the project needs.
A lead hand carpenter is responsible for leading a small team on construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications. This includes supervising, coordinating, and performing skilled carpentry work, as well as interpreting blueprints, managing materials, and maintaining safety standards.
As a Lead Hand Carpenter Journeyperson, you will:

Build forms for concrete

Cut, shape, and join

Look for and fix deficiencies

Building of hoarding and other temporary structures

Check accuracy of work, and makes adjustments as required

Study blueprints for work planning

Use various hand tools (knowledge & experience with)

Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level

Identify abnormalities or defects and/or take appropriate measures, as needed

Assist with leading and guide a team of construction workers; provide training and mentorship

Assist with task assignments, coordination activities, and work schedules

Monitor the quality of work; adhere to project specifications and building code
