Pork Production Technician
Wage: $18.72–$23.00 per hour
Hours: 40–60 hours per week
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Pork Production Technician to join our livestock production team. The successful candidate will play an essential role in maintaining the health and well-being of our sow herd while supporting all aspects of pork production. This position is ideal for individuals who are committed to animal care, teamwork, and maintaining high production standards in a fast-paced agricultural environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the care and feeding of sows during all stages of production.
- Assist sows during the farrowing process, including processing piglets and weaning sows.
- Perform heat detection and artificial insemination of sows.
- Oversee team members to ensure quality control and adherence to production protocols.
- Monitor animal health, detect health concerns, and administer medications and vaccines as required.
- Perform day-to-day barn activities, including general maintenance, cleaning, and ensuring a safe and sanitary work environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of pork production or swine barn experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
- Knowledge of sow care, farrowing, piglet processing, and artificial insemination.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to animal welfare.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in a livestock production environment.
Requirements
- Rural work location.
- Personal transportation is required, as public transportation is not available.
- Ability to work 40–60 hours per week, including weekends and holidays as required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive wage of $18.72–$23.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
- Performance-based bonus available following the successful completion of the probationary period.
