Occupational Health at TELUS Health strives to support the health, safety and well-being of workers in the workplace. It offers assessment, prevention and case management services related to workplace health and fitness for duty. The team works closely with employers and health professionals to promote a safe, sustainable and modified return to work, while complying with medical, legal and organizational standards.
The occupational health physician plays a key role in assessing, monitoring and supporting the health of workers within a diverse base of corporate clients. The physician primarily conducts pre-employment and periodic medical examinations, as well as fitness-for-duty and immigration assessments, in a structured and efficient clinical environment. The physician works closely with an interdisciplinary team that includes nurses who provide clinical support and review records, a kinesiologist who performs physical fitness testing, and on-site radiology services. This professional also performs medico-administrative duties and reviews records, while ensuring clear communication with various stakeholders and maintaining a patient-centred approach.
What you will do
Conduct occupational health medical examinations, including pre-employment, periodic and immigration assessments
Perform comprehensive clinical examinations and ensure compliant and accurate medico-administrative records
Act as a reviewing physician for occupational health files, ensuring analysis, classification and medical referral of cases
Collaborate with physicians, specialists and other health professionals to support clinical decision-making and continuity of care
Communicate effectively with patients and stakeholders (employers, attending physicians, specialists) to ensure clear and comprehensive case management
Prepare medical opinions and referrals in medico-administrative and medico-legal contexts, particularly in cases of disability or functional limitation
Provide the medical team with clinical support and best practice guidance in occupational health
Contribute to continuous service improvement, including suggestions on the clinic’s processes, products and services
Ensure efficient patient management, with rapid and structured examinations (approximately four patients per hour for standard examinations) in an organized and professional clinical environment
Approve laboratory results within 24 hours
Qualifications
What you bring
Member in good standing with the Collège des médecins du Québec
Relevant experience in occupational health, occupational medicine or fitness-for-duty assessments (significant asset)
Bilingualism essential (French and English, oral and written) to support a diverse clientele
Ability to interpret and manage medical records within a medico-legal and occupational framework
Strong clinical judgment and facility for decision-making regarding return to work and functional restrictions
Experience or strong interest in interdisciplinary collaborative medicine (employers, nurses, HR, specialists)
Patient-centred approach, with a deep concern for the patient experience and empathetic communication
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to quickly establish trust
Ability to work effectively with technology
Meticulousness, autonomy and organizational skills needed to manage a variable case volume
Commitment to quality of care, professional ethics and continuous practice improvement

Salary Range: $55 par acte
