Overview
Domax Construction Equipment & Repairs Ltd. is a full-service small engine repair shop and equipment dealer serving the GTA for over 40 years. We are seeking a knowledgeable Small Engine Technician to join our service team.
This is a hands-on role focused on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of construction equipment and small engines. The ideal candidate takes pride in high-quality work, shows initiative and can complete repairs efficiently.
Experience working on automotive systems, small engines, or electric power tools is required. We offer a fast-paced shop environment with opportunity for growth and on-the-job training.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and service small engines and construction tools & equipment (gas, diesel, and electric-powered)
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and perform preventative maintenance
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding/soldering equipment as required.
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble machinery accurately.
- Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper operation before returning
- Maintain accurate records of repairs performed and parts used.
- Follow shop procedures and safety protocols, including proper handling of tools and materials.
- Communicate job status, parts delays, or approvals with management
- Assist customers with technical questions when required
Skills
- Minimum 2–3 years experience as a Small Engine Mechanic or Service Technician
- Basic understanding of 2 stroke and 4 stroke engine
- Strong experience repairing small engines and construction equipment
- Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, welding & soldering equipment
- Work independently and stay productive throughout the day
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and safety
- Reliable, punctual, and professional work ethic
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Experience (Assets)
- Experience with Honda, Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, or similar engines
- Experience with brands such as Stihl, Husqvarna, Echo, Bartell, etc.
- Experience in construction equipment or rental environments
- Welding or fabrication experience
- Forklift or crane certification (or willingness to obtain)
