Job Description: A private family in Sarnia is currently looking to hire a reliable and caring Part-Time Nanny to provide childcare for two children, ages 3 years and 7 months.
This is a hands-on role that requires patience, attentiveness, strong communication, and the ability to confidently care for two young children at the same time.
The position will begin at approximately three days per week from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The schedule may alternate depending on the family’s needs, so flexibility is important. Additional shifts or hours may occasionally be available.
This position also includes light housekeeping duties to help maintain a clean, organized, and comfortable environment for the children.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Childcare & Supervision
- Provide attentive, nurturing, and age-appropriate care for both children
- Supervise playtime and maintain a safe environment
- Plan engaging activities, games, reading, crafts, and age-appropriate learning
- Follow the family’s established routines and parenting preferences
- Assist with feeding, bottles, diaper changes, naps, and bedtime routines
- Comfort and respond appropriately to the needs of both children
Meals & Feeding
- Prepare simple meals and snacks for the children
- Prepare and clean bottles as needed
- Follow all feeding instructions provided by the parents
- Ensure food is prepared and served safely and appropriately for each child’s age
Light Housekeeping
- Tidy play areas and children’s spaces throughout the shift
- Wash bottles, dishes, and feeding supplies
- Complete light laundry duties related to the children as needed
- Wipe down surfaces and maintain general cleanliness
- Put away toys, clothing, and children’s belongings
- Assist with other reasonable light housekeeping duties as needed
Communication & Organization
- Communicate clearly with the parents regarding meals, naps, activities, and behaviour
- Report any concerns, injuries, illnesses, or changes in routine
- Maintain consistency with household schedules and expectations
- Manage time effectively while balancing the needs of both children
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a safe and supervised environment at all times
- Follow all household safety instructions
- Use proper infant feeding, sleep, and childcare practices
- Be prepared to respond calmly and appropriately in an emergency
Position Details:
- Approximately three days per week to start
- Typical hours are 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Days may alternate depending on the family’s schedule
- Additional hours may be available as needed
- Some evening availability is required
Qualifications:
- Previous nanny, babysitting, daycare, or childcare experience required
- Experience caring for infants and toddlers strongly preferred
- Comfortable caring for two young children at the same time
- Patient, dependable, responsible, and trustworthy
- Strong communication and time-management skills
- Able to work independently in a private home
- First Aid and CPR certification required or willingness to obtain
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation preferred
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20/per hour
Expected Hours: Approximately 18 hours per week to start
Schedule: Three shifts per week, generally from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with alternating days based on the family’s needs
