CLINICIAN
Full-Time Registered Psychologist / Registered Clinical Social Worker
MpowR is a non-profit charitable organization providing clinical services and supports to Unlimited Potential Community Services (UP) – another non-profit charitable society with a long history of restoring stability and hope in the lives of children, youth, adults, and families helping them achieve personal independence and family unity.
Through the collaborative efforts of a multi-disciplinary team, we help children and youth process traumatic experiences, build healthy coping skills, strengthen resilience and self-esteem, and improve their relationships and attachment skills.
As our Clinician, you will develop therapeutic care plans for children and youth who have experienced developmental trauma including abuse, neglect, disrupted attachments, loss, family adversity, and pre-natal exposure to alcohol and drugs that affect their emotional, social, cognitive and behavioral development. In regular intervals you will review the reports, touching base with managers to ensure care plans are suited to clients’ needs, monitoring their effectiveness, and modifying as necessary.
In addition, the clinician provides support to front-line staff through coaching, mentorship, training, clinical supervision, and advice to encourage effective implementation of care plans. The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:
- A curious, creative, and proactive mindset with a passion for problem-solving;
- A strong understanding of mental health disorders, trauma-informed care, and therapeutic modalities appropriate for children and youth;
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trust easily and balance people dynamics with practical execution;
- Collaborative and open to feedback, with a strong commitment to continuously improve personal practice in order to better support the team;
- Comfortable working independently, exercising sound judgment with minimal supervision;
- Adaptable, patient, and composed under pressure in a dynamic environment with evolving staff and client needs.
Qualifications:
- Registered Psychologist / Registered Clinical Social Worker with experience working with children and youth
- Current registration with the professional body, current liability insurance and professional references
- Police Information Check (with vulnerable sector) and Child Intervention Record Check (both within the last 6 months)
The successful candidate must be able to travel to Edmonton, Stony Plain, Wetaskiwin, and Ponoka.
Salary & Benefits: Salary Range is $82,873.00 - $100,507.00 annually (salary commensurate with experience);
- 4-weeks’ vacation accrual to start, with an additional week added after 2 years;
- 100% employer-paid benefits package and RRSP equaling 3% of gross salary.
