This is a part-time permanent position offering approximately 15–25 hours per week.
Position Summary
The Deli Clerk is responsible for providing outstanding customer service while preparing deli items, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting the daily operations of the deli and grocery areas.
The successful candidate will contribute to a positive, team-oriented atmosphere and help create an enjoyable shopping experience for every customer.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve deli items including sandwiches, salads, soups, and other ready-to-eat foods
- Operate the cash register and handle transactions accurately
- Slice meats and cheeses using deli equipment safely and efficiently
- Assist customers with product selection and orders
- Upsell deli products, grocery items, and promotions when appropriate
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the deli and kitchen areas
- Follow proper food handling, health, and safety procedures
- Wash dishes and maintain a clean, organized workspace
- Stock shelves, rotate product, and merchandise grocery items
- Receive and put away stock orders
- Work collaboratively with team members to support daily operations
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous retail, deli, grocery, or customer service experience is considered an asset
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to cleanliness and food safety
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Knowledge of European or Dutch products is considered an asset
- FoodSafe or food handling certification is an asset
