About the role:
The Geology Superintendent is a key member of the site leadership team responsible for overseeing all geological functions to support safe, efficient, and optimized mining operations. This role provides strategic and operational leadership across production geology, grade control, and resource development to ensure accurate orebody interpretation and alignment with mine plans.
Working closely with Mine Operations, Technical Services, and Exploration teams, the Geology Superintendent drives continuous improvement in geological practices, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports the delivery of production and business objectives. The role plays a critical part in maximizing resource recovery, minimizing dilution, and maintaining data integrity across all geological systems.
Responsibilities:- Lead and develop the site geology team, setting clear expectations, supporting performance, and fostering a safe, inclusive, and high-performance culture.
- Oversee grade control, production geology, and orebody interpretation to optimize ore recovery and minimize dilution.
- Establish and implement geological strategies, standards, and processes aligned with mine planning and operational objectives.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting of geological data, models, and reconciliations.
- Collaborate with mine planning and operations teams to support short- and long-term production targets and schedules.
- Manage budgets, resources, and workforce planning for geology activities, ensuring cost-effective and efficient delivery of services.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and act as or support the Qualified Person for resource reporting where applicable.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including technology adoption, data systems, and geological processes to enhance operational performance.
Qualifications
Key Skills & Knowledge:- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related discipline.
- Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) designation or eligibility is preferred.
Relevant Experience:- Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in mining geology, including open pit operations.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a supervisory or superintendent-level role within mining operations.
