Role Overview
The Assistant Camp Manager supports the lead manager in overseeing daily camp operations.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations & Administration
- Support the Camp Manager in overseeing the daily running of camp accommodations and food service facilities.
- Ensuring that all Torch policies are adhered to and taking corrective action when required.

Take a leadership role in, training new staff and documenting progress.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, preparing and submitting reports.
- Facilitate daily Toolbox meetings including setting up AV/video components for Sunday sessions.
- Input data into safety management systems and generate compliance reports as needed.
- Identify incorrectly marked sections on FLHAs proactively return to staff with constructive feedback and track missing submissions.
- Other tasks that the supervisor may assign
Housekeeping Support
- Conduct routine room inspections. Cross-inspect check-out and stay rooms alongside the Head Housekeeper.
- Input and monitor data on the STL Linen and Inventory Tracker. Reconcile monthly billing lists received from the front desk and Head Housekeeper.
- Provide physical, hands-on support to the housekeeping department during high-volume changeover days (Folding towels, sorting inventory).
- Assist in incoming and outgoing weekly linen deliveries.
- Perform regular afternoon quality checks of facility maintenance records, including public washrooms, gym, recreation rooms, and laundry rooms.
Dining Room Supervision & Client Relations
- Attend the daily leadership meeting with the Camp Manager, Head Chef, and Head Housekeeper for a daily de-briefing.
- Update digital TV menus daily.
- Actively circulate through the dining hall during dinner service. Gather guest feedback regarding food quality, resolve complaints, foster positive client relations.
- Monitor self-serve stations, including the dessert table, milk/juice dispensers, salad bars, sandwich stations, coolers, and hallway coffee bars. Direct GH staff to restock or step in to fulfill urgent needs.
Role Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years of supervisory or assistant management experience within a remote workforce lodge, modular remote camp, or industrial catering setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Proficient with remote safety software (specifically BisSafety),
- Comfort working a split shift, standing for extended periods, and assisting with physical labor tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Detail-oriented. Able to jump between administrative paperwork and hands-on operational support seamlessly.
- Standard First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, and Food Safe certificates are required.
