Position Summary:
Reporting to the Waterfront Eye Institute Clinic Manager, the OA role has two main functions:
o Play a key role in supporting the client’s Waterfront Eye Institute experience.
o Execute a variety of administrative and clinical tasks that support operations.
The OA is the client’s first point of contact for system navigation within the clinic. The role focuses on developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients through building trust, offering responsive care and concern with each interaction. Accountability:
The position is accountable for the:
Efficient, effective, accurate and timely performance of the responsibilities of this position
The interrelationships with people visiting Waterfront Eye Institute with special emphasis on client relations
Effective time management and prioritization of work
Participation in relevant meetings and committees
Actively participate in the development and implementation of an individual plan for professional growth
Adherence to Waterfront Eye Institute policies and procedures and standards
Adherence to the Personal Health Information Act
Participation in the development and implementation of appropriate tools and strategies needed to meet clinic goals.
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the last five (5) years in a medical office assistant position required.
Recent experience with Ophthalmology or comparable volume intense speciality
Medical terminology, particularly ophthalmic terminology is required.
Experience with physician billing (MB Health, Non-insured services) is required.
Demonstrated experience showcasing excellent verbal and written communication skills is required; including excellent customer service experience, acute problem solving, and handling complex and sensitive information.
Experience with prioritizing multiple activities in a busy clinical environment is required.
Experience functioning as a team player is required.
Education
Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
Successful completion of a post-secondary Medical Office Assistant (or equivalent) certificate from a recognized institution is not required, but is seen as an asset.
Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills.
Knowledge of electronic medical record systems (EMR) is required - (LibreMD/Accuro/Novari) preferred.
It is recommended that, but not required that staff possess the Family & Friends category of CPR
