At Anika Youth Services (AYS), we are dedicated to supporting at-risk youth in the Surrey and Langley communities through comprehensive, wrap-around services. Our programs include long-term housing, outreach support, and life skills development. We create individualized care plans that address each youth’s mental health, social, behavioural, and emotional needs.
We are currently seeking passionate and committed Youth Support Workers for our 24-hour live-in program. This role provides a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact while gaining extensive front-line experience supporting vulnerable youth.
Position Overview
This is a 24-hour live-in position, requiring staff to stay in the home during their shifts. A private, lockable staff bedroom and bathroom are provided for your comfort and privacy.
Schedule:
- Rotating 7-day schedule
- 2 days on / 2 days off
- Working a 3-day weekend (every other week)
What You’ll Do
- Build strong, supportive relationships with youth using a trauma-informed and attachment-based approach
- Support youth with daily routines, emotional regulation, and life skills development
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each youth’s needs
- Respond effectively to crises using de-escalation and conflict resolution skills
- Perform and teach basic household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and grocery shopping
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team while also working independently
- Maintain accurate documentation and communication with team members and stakeholders
Successful candidates will bring with them:
- Minimum: diploma in child and youth care, psychology, criminology, or related social services field
- Minimum of 2 years directly related experience and an understanding of mental health, substance misuse, attachment and trauma informed practice
- MUST HAVE Class 5 License and reliable vehicle for use during your shift
- Standard First-Aid Level 1 with CPR
- Clear criminal record
- Strong rapport building/relational skills, that includes culturally competent and respectful interactions with youth, co-workers, and stakeholders
- Ability to perform basic household duties: budgeting, grocery shops, meal preparation, cleaning and ability to teach basic life skills
- Versatility to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Conflict resolution and crisis management skills
- Effective time management, organizational skills, and computer skills
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual
Pay: $330.00-$350.00 per day
