We are looking for an experienced and motivated Truck & Trailer Shop Supervisor to lead our maintenance team and oversee the daily operations of our commercial truck and trailer repair facility. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to safety, efficiency, and high-quality workmanship.
As Shop Supervisor, you will manage technicians, coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance, ensure regulatory compliance, and help drive overall shop productivity and performance.
What You’ll Do
Leadership & Shop Operations
- Supervise and support technicians, apprentices, and shop staff
- Plan, assign, and prioritize daily maintenance and repair work
- Monitor shop productivity, turnaround times, and repair quality
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment
- Coordinate emergency and after-hours repairs when needed
Maintenance & Repairs
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs for trucks and trailers
- Review diagnostics, repair procedures, and completed work orders
- Ensure compliance with company standards and manufacturer specifications
- Coordinate outsourced repairs and vendor services as required
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce workplace safety policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with DOT/CVOR and provincial/state regulations
- Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections
- Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records
Inventory & Equipment Management
- Monitor inventory levels and shop supplies
- Coordinate ordering of parts, tools, and equipment
- Help manage maintenance costs and shop budgets
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained
Team Development
- Train, mentor, and evaluate technicians and apprentices
- Support employee development and apprenticeship programs
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and performance management
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professionalism
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of truck/trailer maintenance or heavy-duty repair experience
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, trailers, brakes, suspension, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- 310T License considered a strong asset
- Knowledge of MIR maintenance software is an asset.
- Knowledge of transportation and workplace safety regulations
- Experience with maintenance software and diagnostics systems
- Valid driver’s license required (AZ/Class 1/CDL is an asset)
