The Bethania Group is currently recruiting for a CASUAL BUILDING ATTENDANT for Deaf Centre Manitoba/285 Pembina Inc. located at 285 Pembina Hwy. in Winnipeg, MB. Deaf Centre Manitoba is a multi-functional facility servicing Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing and Hearing individuals. This position plays an important role in supporting all of our residents, tenants and staff.
Responsibilities include:
- Communicating with all visitors - reception and tenant relations
- Answering and transferring calls from a switchboard telephone
- Vacuuming, set-up and tear down of equipment as required by facility users
- Performing regular inspection tours of the entire building and grounds on an outlined basis
- Following outlined procedures during emergencies and providing direction to others
- Keeping walkways clear
As a successful candidate, you are a professional, dedicated to providing excellent customer service. You have 1-3 years previous experience in a similar role. You are physically able to perform all the duties including lifting, climbing/descending stairs, shoveling snow and being cognitively aware and alert at all times while on shift. The ability to read, write and speak in the English language is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have the ability to communicate using American Sign Language. (Willingness to enroll in the next available ASL course at the Centre is a requirement) Previous experience working with people within various communities including deaf, deaf blind and mental health is an asset.
Must be available for day, evening and night shifts including weekends.
Note – there are no guaranteed hours in this unionized (MGEU) position.
Successful candidates are required to provide a current (within the last year) Criminal Record Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
