Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Lead Hand in Site Preparation to oversee and coordinate heavy equipment operations and construction activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, leadership skills, and hands-on experience with various construction machinery. This role involves supervising site activities, ensuring safety standards are met, and assisting with the efficient execution of site preparation projects. The Lead Hand will play a vital role in maintaining high-quality work while managing a team of operators and ensuring project timelines are met.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of site preparation crews, including equipment operation and safety compliance
- Operate machinery such as loaders, backhoes, and Skidsteers
- Ensure all work is performed according to project specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of construction sites, including grading, paving, and site leveling
- Provide mechanical guidance and troubleshooting support for equipment issues
- Train and mentor crew members on equipment operation, safety procedures, and best practices in construction work
- Collaborate with project managers to meet deadlines and maintain quality standards
- Assist with general labour duties as required.
Experience
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to construction equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Prior experience in site preparation or general construction projects preferred
- Demonstrated leadership skills in supervising or leading a team on construction sites
- Knowledge of paving processes and techniques is advantageous
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or equivalent certification is a plus
- Extensive construction experience with a focus on heavy equipment operation is required

Pay: $29.00-$33.00 per hour
