Job Summary: The Senior Accountant works with a high degree of independence in performing accounting and financial activities for the company. The role requires strong analytic and reasoning skills in order to determine the best outcome when faced with uncertainty.
The person will apply generally accepted principles of accounting to analyze financial information and will be responsible for making the requisite journal entries and preparing account reconciliations in order to be able to prepare accurate and complete financial statements.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Compile, prepare and analyze AR Reconciliation. Work with the AR/Credit team to rectify any atypical reconciling items in a timely manner. Compile, prepare and analyze Bank Reconciliations. Work with the Accounting team and/or AR/Credit to rectify any atypical reconciling items in a timely manner. Understand and prepare reserve reconciliation reports. Review, reconcile, and investigate Ecommerce reports against ERP. Perform Account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations, and other related accounting documents/schedules. Commissions reconciliation as needed. Prepare complex journal entries. Foreign exchange acquisition/reconciliation Intercompany transactions HST, QST remittances Ensure records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures. Make certain all reporting deadlines are met. Initiate and lead process improvements with respect to processes and key reporting requirements within the department. Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close processes. Document policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility. Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned. Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential. Other duties as required
Job Qualifications: A minimum of 6 years’ experience in a large corporate accounting department Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty. Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment. The individual will be expected to work independently and take ownership of his /her work product. The individual will work closely with all major functional leaders of the Company. Attention to detail and accuracy Planning and organizing. Strategic and tactical thinking. Strong communication skills. Problem identification and analysis. Excellent teamwork skills Advanced experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles. Knowledge of auditing practices and principles. Knowledge of JDE and SAP. Education: Bachelor of Science in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited university.
