The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $70,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role. As the Assistant Manager, Environmental Services , you are responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality environmental and support services in a fast‑paced acute care hospital setting. Working within a unionized environment, you help ensure a clean, safe, and healing environment for patients, staff, and visitors by supporting daily operations, supervising staff, promoting infection prevention standards, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies, collective agreements, and applicable legislation.
Now, if you were to come on board as an Assistant Manager, Environmental Services , we’d ask you to do the following for us:
- Support day‑to‑day Environmental Services operations across patient care units and clinical and non‑clinical areas
- Ensure cleaning and disinfection practices meet acute care standards, Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) requirements, and regulatory guidelines
- Assist with staffing coordination, scheduling, workload distribution, and coverage
- Participate in emergency response, outbreak management, and surge capacity planning
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, and guidance to unionized EVS staff in accordance with the collective agreement
- Support performance management, attendance management, and progressive discipline processes in collaboration with Human Resources
- Conduct audits and inspections to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with hospital and legislative standards
- Assist with onboarding, orientation, and training of new staff, promoting standardized best practices
- Support supply and equipment management, inventory control, and departmental reporting
- Collaborate with Infection Prevention and Control, Occupational Health & Safety, and interdisciplinary teams

- Diploma or degree in Environmental Services, Facilities Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years of Environmental Services experience in an acute care or healthcare setting
- Previous supervisory experience in a unionized environment preferred
- Strong understanding of infection prevention and control principles and healthcare cleaning standards
- Knowledge of collective agreements, labour relations practices, and applicable employment legislation
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills
- Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and communication abilities
- Proficiency with hospital systems and standard office software
