Berk’s Intertruck Ltd, acquired in 2021 by Pacific Coast Heavy Truck Group, has been serving the needs of their customers for over 45 years. They have four locations on Vancouver Island in Nanaimo, Duke Point, Duncan, and Port Alberni.
Berk’s is the authorized dealer for Volvo Heavy Trucks and Isuzu Trucks and in addition, the authorized distributor for Canuck Trailers and Felling Trailers Inc
We are now accepting applications for a Shipper/Driver to be part of our Nanaimo team in a full-time permanent capacity.
We are selectively looking for applicants with the right experience and work ethic to fit our company and join our growing team!
Essential Duties
- Picks up and delivers parts to customers, satellite stores, and vendors.
- Checks with the parts manager, foremen, inventory manager, parts counter people or shipping and receiving clerk before leaving to coordinate any last-minute pick-ups or deliveries.
- Verifies that invoice matches purchase order for each pick-up.
- Keeps an accurate log of daily deliveries and pick-ups. Requests recipient's signature on each delivery entry.
- Unloads truck each night. Turns in all paperwork and undelivered parts.
- Handles basic maintenance of the truck including filling tank with gas, checking oil, keeping it clean and making sure required inspections are performed.
- Advises parts manager or foremen if delivery trucks need major repairs and maintenance.
- Helps maintain the professional appearance of the parts department.
- Helps with stocking orders when they arrive to expedite delivery to shop technicians.
- Upkeep and packaging of cores
- Maintains professional appearance.
- Provide accurate count and verify identification of parts received, placed in stores, and issued
- Process work accurately to avoid delays in schedules, resulting in lost time
- Receive, store, issue, and control inventory within the warehouse
- Verify identification of parts by reviewing related paperwork; visually check for damage or other obvious discrepancies
- Operate forklift
- Commitment to promoting and supporting a safe workplace
What we are looking for:
- Forklift certification is preferred
- Completion of high school is the minimum education level required to effectively perform the role.
- Ability to perform under highly repetitive and routine work situations on a sustained basis
- Ability to repetitively lift up to 50 lbs.
- Previous experience in a similar warehouse environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the company
- Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract
- Previous experience in a warehouse setting would be considered an asset
- Must have the ability to work with little supervision and manage multiple objectives
- Self-motivated, team-oriented individual who has the ability to perform successfully under pressure
- Must be able to work a variety of evening and weekend shifts
