Job Overview:
Ontario College of Technology is seeking a dynamic and qualified Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) Instructor to join our faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, student-centered instruction in our RMT program. This individual will inspire and support adult learners, ensuring they gain the knowledge, skills, and practical experience required to become successful, licensed massage therapists.
Candidates must hold credentials that meet or exceed the requirements of the Interjurisdictional Practice Competencies for Massage Therapists. Jurisdictional Practice Competencies for Massage Therapists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver in-class and practical instruction in the Registered Massage Therapy program according to the curriculum.
- Prepare and organize lesson plans, course materials, and assessments that meet or exceed the program standards.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback to support student success.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current trends, techniques, and best practices in massage therapy and health care.
- Foster a positive learning environment by encouraging student engagement and participation.
- Monitor student attendance, track academic progress, and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with the academic team to ensure consistency in course delivery and continuous program improvement.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and other college-related activities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry guidelines, including the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) regulations.
Qualifications:
- Valid registration as a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing massage therapist.
- A degree or diploma in massage therapy from an accredited institution.
- Teaching certification or experience in adult education is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic techniques used in massage therapy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support adult learners.
- Ability to create an inclusive, supportive, and respectful classroom environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- RMT in good standing
- Required certifications (First Aid/CPR)
Additional Skills/Attributes:
- Experience in teaching massage therapy or related subjects is an asset.
- Knowledge of and adherence to the ethical standards and regulations set by the CMTO.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
