Senior Full Stack Developer, IoT Platform
Role Summary
Orca is looking for a senior Full Stack Developer with strong architectural judgment to help build and scale our software platform as our customer base and connected device deployments grow.
We have a core team, real deployments, and growing market traction. We are now adding key technical pieces before the next stage of scale. This is an opportunity to join early enough to meaningfully shape the platform, the team, and the way Orca delivers software to customers.
This is an architect-builder role: hands-on, practical, and collaborative. The right person can design good systems, write production code, mentor others, and help the team make better technical decisions together.
The work spans customer dashboards, backend services, APIs, cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, and tools that support real-world IoT deployments.
Experience with Google Cloud Platform is required.
Key Responsibilities
● Build and maintain full stack software across Orca’s customer-facing and internal platforms. ● Help design scalable, reliable architecture for device data, dashboards, alerts, and analytics. ● Work with Google Cloud services to support secure and production-ready systems. ● Collaborate closely with software, hardware, firmware, deployment, and customer-facing teams. ● Mentor other developers and help improve code quality, architecture, and team practices. ● Support production debugging, release readiness, and ongoing platform improvement.
Qualifications
● Degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical field. ● Proven experience as a senior full stack developer, technical lead, architect-builder, or similar role. ● Strong experience building production web applications, backend systems, APIs, and cloud services. ● Required experience with Google Cloud Platform. ● Strong proficiency with Java and the Spring framework ● Experience developing web interfaces with React that are responsive on various browsers and screen sizes

● Experience working closely with UX/design teams to implement Figma designs with care, consistency, and attention to user experience. ● Strong understanding of relational databases, API design, authentication, cloud architecture, and system reliability. ● Collaborative working style with the ability to mentor, explain tradeoffs, and help others grow. ● Practical technical judgment and strong communication across technical and non-technical teams.
Advantageous Attributes
● Experience with IoT platforms, connected devices, telemetry, or sensor data. ● Experience with data pipelines, analytics, alerts, or time-series data. ● Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, infrastructure as code, automated testing, or cloud security. ● Experience in a startup or early-stage technology company. ● Experience helping establish engineering best practices, code review habits, and team development processes. ● Experience with MaterialUI
Pay: $6,000.00-$10,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
