Base Salary 80-90K (negotiable pending experience) + uncapped commission + uncapped profit sharing + car allowance
Drive major industrial projects from specification through award. We're looking for a technically-minded business development professional who understands the industrial construction market and thrives on influencing projects long before they reach the bidding stage.
This is not a traditional sales role. You'll work directly with consulting engineers, EPC firms, industrial end users, and key project stakeholders to secure product specifications, identify upcoming capital projects, and position our solutions early in the design process. You'll serve as the technical and commercial liaison between customers, vendors, and internal sales teams, helping drive long-term project success across Ontario.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and execute business development strategies to secure specifications on major industrial and infrastructure projects.
- Build strong relationships with consulting engineers, EPC firms, project owners, industrial contractors, and other key decision-makers.
- Identify and pursue upcoming capital projects through construction reporting, industry networking, and market intelligence.
- Promote technically appropriate electrical products and solutions throughout the specification process.
- Work closely with vendors to position products and maximize project wins.
- Collaborate with Account Managers, Inside Sales, Operations, and Purchasing to ensure successful project execution.
- Review project quotations, technical specifications, and commercial proposals to maximize competitiveness.
- Deliver product presentations, lunch-and-learns, and technical seminars to engineering firms and end users.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
- Utilize CRM and ERP systems to manage opportunities, customer relationships, and project pipelines.
- Stay current on industry trends, construction activity, emerging technologies, and competitive market conditions.
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone who can speak the language of engineers, contractors, and industrial customers while confidently navigating complex technical sales cycles.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience selling technical products or solutions into the construction, industrial, or infrastructure sectors.
- Proven success developing relationships with consulting engineers, EPC firms, contractors, project managers, and industrial end users.
- Experience working within the electrical distribution, electrical manufacturing, or electrical construction industry.
- Strong understanding of specification selling and project-based sales.
- Experience identifying and managing long-cycle capital projects.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience developing quotations and project proposals.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with CRM and ERP systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related discipline.
- Existing network within Ontario's industrial, engineering, or construction markets.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical products, power distribution, automation, controls, or related product categories.
- Experience working with manufacturers, distributors, and consulting engineering firms.
Why This Opportunity?:
This role offers the opportunity to become a trusted technical advisor on some of
Ontario's largest industrial and infrastructure projects. You'll work alongside a highly experienced team while developing strategic relationships with industry leaders and influencing projects from concept through completion.
