Job description
Primary Functions:
- Load and unload vehicles and trailers with equipment and supplies
- Load and unload equipment and supplies onto or from pallets, racks, shelves, etc.
- Dispose of construction debris into bins
- Retrieve material from storage to bring to work areas
- General jobsite and yard cleanup and organization
- Hoist material to and from roof using manual or electric hoist
- Secure attachments and loads to cranes, hoists, etc.
- Stack and assemble materials into bundles and bands and tarp/secure material
- Shovel material such as sand and gravel into bins, hoppers, etc.
- Snow and ice removal
- Dry wet areas of the construction site
- Cut, measure, clean, and lay construction material for application, and use tools such as power drill for attachment
- Operate various equipment, when trained and/or qualified, including kettle, drive vehicles, etc.
- Act as a signaller for cranes, vehicles, and other equipment when needed.
- Follow instructions of their superior
- Perform equipment inspections
- Follow the direction of direct supervisors and management in a safe manner.
Secondary Functions:
- Attend safety and other meetings
- Attend training sessions
- Assist in workplace inspections
- General maintenance of head office yard, warehouse, and lawn
- Maintain a professional demeanour when meeting / speaking with potential and existing clients, suppliers, etc.
- Supporting corporate initiatives and business development objectives.
- Attend company required training seminars / sessions / meetings.
- Performing duties assigned to them under various company policies, procedures, and programs.
- Perform modified duties in the event of a work-related injury or illness as long as the duties fit with the scope of the worker’s functional abilities.
- Maintain a safe and healthy workplace by knowing and following all requirements of applicable health and safety legislation and our company’s health and safety program which may consist of policies, procedures, plans, rules, and programs.
- Report all hazards, incidents, and contraventions of health and safety legislation to their supervisor immediately.
- Use and wear protective devices at all times when required.
- Cooperate with workplace parties in their duties when they are complying with the program and legislation.
- Participate in the health and safety program.
- Refuse unsafe work.
- Take all precautions reasonable in the circumstances to protect the health and safety of yourself and others which may include but is not limited to not running, not horse playing, not pranking, not engaging in a feat of strength, not startling or distracting workers who may be operating machines, devices, or equipment or engaging in safety-related functions like traffic control, etc.
- Other reasonable duties as assigned that may fit within the scope of the designated role.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Frequent:
- Construction site environment where exposure to hazards are high, and may include but are not limited to fall from heights, moving vehicles, falling objects, environmental hazards such as weather, etc.
- Outdoor environment related to construction sites, yard, etc. where exposure to hazards are low to moderate, and may include but are not limited to slips, trips, and falls, weather such as rain, wind, UV rays, moving vehicles, etc.
- Vehicular travel that may include but is not limited to training providers, jobsites, customer workplaces, seminars, etc. Hazards include but are not limited to outside elements such as weather, slips, trips, and falls, etc. and motor vehicle accidents from distracted driving, pedestrians and other road vehicles, weather, etc.
- Unfamiliar office and public indoor environments that may primarily include customer or training provider facilities that range from offices, factories, retail, prisons, etc. where exposure to hazards could vary widely from minor to high hazards and may include, but are not limited to, slips, trips, and falls, office electrical equipment, ergonomic issues, and poor housekeeping, falls from heights, noise, chemicals, etc.
Occasional:
- Industrial environments such as shops and warehouses where exposure to hazards are moderate to high, and may include but are not limited to slips, trips, and falls, noise, falling objects, chemicals, falls from heights, etc.
Minimal:
- Indoor office environment where exposure to hazards are low, and may include but are not limited to slips, trips, and falls, office electrical equipment, ergonomic issues, and poor housekeeping matters.
