Millway Market is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Manager to support daily store operations, enhance customer satisfaction, and drive sales growth. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, retail management expertise, and excellent communication abilities. Responsibilities
- Assist the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations, including merchandising, inventory control, and staff scheduling
- Lead and supervise team members to ensure high levels of customer service and operational efficiency
- Manage payroll, cash handling, and POS transactions accurately and securely
- Support recruiting efforts by participating in interviewing and onboarding new employees
- Implement marketing strategies to promote store products and services effectively
- Coordinate purchasing and pricing decisions to maximize profitability while maintaining competitive offerings
- Conduct training and development sessions for staff to enhance skills in sales, customer service, and store procedures
- Monitor sales performance and prepare reports to inform business decisions
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety regulations, and store standards
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to maintain excellent customer relationships
Qualifications
- Proven experience in retail management or supervisory roles within a retail environment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are preferred to serve a diverse customer base effectively
- Proficiency in POS systems, merchandising, pricing strategies, and cash handling procedures
- Experience with recruiting, training & development, budgeting, bookkeeping, and administrative tasks
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Knowledge of marketing techniques and sales management principles
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends; sometimes may require holiday coverage
- Strong math skills for inventory management, pricing adjustments, and financial recordkeeping
