Job Summary:
The Restaurant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, efficient workflow, and adherence to company standards. This role involves supervising staff, managing shifts, handling customer queries, and assisting the management team in achieving the restaurant’s financial and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Staff Supervision and Development
- Supervise and guide front-of-house and back-of-house staff during shifts.
- Assist in hiring, training, and developing team members to ensure they meet performance standards.
- Create and manage staff schedules to ensure proper coverage during peak hours.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate updates, goals, and expectations.
- Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and implement disciplinary actions as necessary.
2. Customer Service
- Ensure exceptional customer service is delivered consistently.
- Address and resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.
- Monitor dining areas to ensure a positive guest experience.
- Assist in handling special requests, large groups, and reservations.
3. Operations Management
- Oversee the daily opening and closing procedures of the restaurant.
- Ensure the restaurant is clean, organized, and well-maintained.
- Monitor food and beverage quality, presentation, and portion control.
- Coordinate with the kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate order delivery.
- Manage inventory levels, place orders for supplies, and minimize waste.
4. Financial Management
- Assist the Restaurant Manager in monitoring sales, controlling costs, and achieving financial targets.
- Handle cash management duties, including reconciling cash drawers and making bank deposits.
- Assist with budgeting and financial planning as needed.
5. Compliance and Safety
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization.
- Ensure staff are trained on and adhere to safety protocols, including emergency procedures.
6. Marketing and Promotions
- Support promotional activities and special events to drive customer engagement and sales.
- Assist in implementing marketing initiatives and monitoring their effectiveness.
- Gather customer feedback and provide insights to the management team for continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in hospitality management or related field is a plus.
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within the restaurant or hospitality industry.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations.
- Knowledge of restaurant operations, including food safety, inventory management, and POS systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the restaurant for extended periods.
