Complete Graphics Solutions is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Designer / Pre-Flight Specialist to join our team.
This role is ideal for someone who understands both the creative and technical sides of print production and can help ensure artwork is properly designed, prepared, and ready for production.
We are looking for someone who can work on-site for approximately 4 hours per day to start, with the potential for the role to grow into a full-time position as business needs increase.
About the Role
The Designer / Pre-Flight Specialist will support the team with artwork setup, design adjustments, file preparation, and pre-flight checks to ensure jobs move smoothly into production.
This role is focused on graphic design, artwork setup, and pre-flight for print production. Please note, this is not a video editing role, and video editing experience is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and adjust customer artwork for print production.
- Complete pre-flight checks to ensure files are print-ready, accurate, and properly formatted.
- Set up artwork for various print jobs, signage, promotional materials, and related products.
- Make design edits, layout adjustments, and corrections as needed.
- Ensure files meet production specifications, including sizing, bleed, resolution, colour, fonts, file formats, and overall production requirements.
- Communicate with the internal team regarding file concerns, artwork issues, or production requirements.
- Support workflow by helping jobs move efficiently from artwork approval to production.
- Maintain organized digital files and follow internal naming and filing processes.
- Assist with basic design work and creative layouts when required.
Qualifications
- Strong experience using Adobe Illustrator is required.
- Experience with additional Adobe programs, including Photoshop and InDesign, is considered an asset.
- Previous experience working in a professional print shop, signage company, promotional products company, or graphics production environment is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of print-ready file preparation, including bleed, crop marks, colour profiles, resolution, fonts, sizing, and file formats.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple files or projects at once.
- Comfortable working on-site and collaborating with a production team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and support production timelines.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is someone who can jump in, problem-solve, and help keep artwork and production moving.
You are detail-oriented, reliable, and understand that strong design is not only about how something looks, but also about how well it prints. You are comfortable working in a hands-on print shop environment and know how to prepare files properly so the production team can move forward with confidence.
This role is best suited for someone who is independent, resourceful, and comfortable managing their own workflow. The successful candidate must be able to take direction, ask thoughtful questions when needed, and then move work forward without requiring constant guidance or supervision.
Candidates who require ongoing hands-on leadership, constant reassurance, or step-by-step direction may not be the right fit for this role.
