MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, sociology, social work or a related study area, including laboratory analysis techniques.
OR
- Completion of a Community College course in a related discipline with one year’s = directly related experience.
OR
- High school completion with job-related options with a minimum of four years = directly related experience.
- Masters’ degree in a related study area is an asset.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with qualitative research is preferred, such as conducting interviews or focus groups.
- Experience teaching or delivering workshops will be considered.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of job-related software such as Microsoft 365, Zoom, and Teams is required.
- Comfort with computers and other audio-visual instruments is required.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team is required.
- Access to a personal vehicle and being able to drive to research sites is required. Mileage for work-related travel will be reimbursed.
- A satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
Responsibilities:
This Position is located in Thompson, Manitoba
Research:
- In consultation with the UM team, prepare ethics submissions for UCN and maintain valid ethics approvals.
- Regular and timely communication with the research team.
- Recruit participants and run in-person focus groups with Health Care Aide students in accordance with established team protocols and in culturally sensitive manner.
- Handle data and data transfers maintaining confidentiality of participants.
Administrative support:
- Regular attendance at virtual and occasional in-person team meetings in Winnipeg.
- Liaise with UCN college program to schedule recruitment and focus group sessions with Health Care Aide students.
- Arrange food for focus groups, compensate research participants, and submit all receipts.
- Purchase and present culturally appropriate gifts when necessary.
- May be required to perform related duties not exceeding skills and capabilities as required.
