Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and innovative R&D Formulator to join our team. This role is essential in driving product innovation, ensuring quality standards, and supporting the development of new formulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory practices, product development, and manufacturing processes, contributing to the creation of high-quality products that meet market demands. Duties
- Develop and optimize formulations for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, or personal care products, including creams, gels, lotions, ointments, powder, solutions, suspensions, and other dosage forms.
- Conduct formulation development trials, evaluate prototype formulations, and document experimental results.
- Design and execute laboratory studies to assess product performance, stability, compatibility, and manufacturability.
- Prepare laboratory batches and support pilot-scale and manufacturing scale-up activities.
- Perform physical, chemical, and functional evaluations of formulations, including viscosity, pH, appearance, specific gravity, and other relevant tests.
- Troubleshoot formulation issues and recommend improvements to enhance product quality, stability, and performance.
- Develop manufacturing procedures, batch records, and formulation instructions.
- Collaborate with Analytical, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Manufacturing teams throughout the product development process.
- Review scientific literature, pharmacopeial requirements, and regulatory guidelines to support formulation development.
- Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and technical documentation in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with applicable Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and company procedures.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, inventory of chemicals and raw materials, and ensure a safe and organized work environment.
Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum 10 years related industry experience in formulation development within the pharmaceutical, cosmetic or Natural Health Product (NHP) industries.
- Knowledge of formulation principles, excipients, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with GMP, GLP, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
