A Day in the Life:
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Millwright is responsible for responding to plant equipment maintenance requirements and completing construction and fabrication projects as assigned. This role supports the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment throughout the Hamilton Crush and Edible Oils facilities.
Position Details:
- Permanent full-time position.
- Shift work on rotating schedule. The Company reserves the right to adjust work schedules and shift times to support business requirements. Overtime may be required based on operational needs.
- Unionized position represented by the United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) Local 175.
- Hourly rate: $49.99
What You'll Be Doing:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment, including conveyors, elevators, pumps, and other mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
- Operate forklifts to move materials and equipment.
- Perform welding and fabrication work as required.
- Support the training and development of new maintenance team members.
- Participate in the on-call pager program, responding to after-hours maintenance requirements approximately every sixth week.
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow all company safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience Requirements:
- Current and valid 433A Industrial Mechanic Certificate of Qualification in Ontario.
- Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Red Seal endorsement is preferred.
- CWB welding certifications are considered an asset.
- Knowledge of HACCP and GMP food safety programs is an asset.
- Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of Millwright/Industrial Mechanic experience in an industrial environment.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting rotating equipment.
- Ability to read shop prints and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques and practices is an asset.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to travel periodically as required.
Physical & Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, greasy, and noisy environments.
- Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces that have been properly permitted and monitored.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including safety shoes, safety glasses, and hard hats.
- Ability to wear specialized PPE as required, including fall protection and respiratory protection.
- Must be available for overtime, weekends, and on-call responsibilities as required.
