Schedule:
A minimum of 24 hours weekly on both weekdays and weekends.
Pay:
Starting wage is $22.00 per hour for a Server and $25.34 per hour for a Lead Server.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Senior Hospitality Manager, the Food Service Server takes orders and serves meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner as outlined in the standards manual. Delivering outstanding service and exceeding the residents and guest expectations. Support meal setup and preparation across a variety of food service areas, including any clean up. The Server may be required to deliver tray service or assist with any private dining functions or other related events that include food services.
The Lead Server is responsible for managing the flow during meal service and is the first point of contact for residents and guests entering the dining area. This role is responsible for creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere while managing private dining arrangements, beverage orders, and reservations. The host works closely with dining staff providing leadership to ensure a pleasant dining experience for residents. In the absence of the Senior Manager of Hospitality, the Host is responsible for overseeing the dining room, leading the front-of-house team, and resolving guest concerns.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Previous food service experience or 1-2 years as a senior server.
- Food Safe Certification – Must complete within 90 days of hire if not already completed.
- Serving it Right Certification.
- Physically able to lift heavy items and stand or walk for long periods.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills; team-oriented and self-motivated
- Demonstrates professionalism, confidentiality, organization, flexibility, and adaptability.
- Effective communication, active listening, conflict resolution, and collaboration
Note: At Berwick we understand the importance of immunization to protect our residents, team members and visitors from COVID-19. As such, a prerequisite of employment is that all new hires are vaccinated as approved by Health Canada. A current TB test and criminal record check are also required pursuant to the Criminal Records Review Act for working with vulnerable adults.
