The Senior Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading and advancing Calian GNSS’s integrated management systems, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and corporate operational excellence frameworks. This role integrates quality, environmental, health and safety, and continuous improvement initiatives into everyday business operations while driving process improvement, automation, operational efficiency, and strategic risk management.
The Senior Manager collaborates closely with senior leadership, cross-functional departments, customers, suppliers, and external auditors to maintain certifications, improve organizational performance, and foster a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
This role requires a servant leadership mindset, balancing strategic planning with a hands-on approach. The Senior Manager leads by example, willingly supporting operational activities at all levels when required, while demonstrating integrity, initiative, resilience, and sound judgement in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
The Senior Quality Assurance Manager:
- Leads and oversees the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems, including internal audits, management reviews, corrective actions, certification activities, and continual improvement initiatives.
- Leads Environmental Management System (EMS) activities, including environmental data analysis, regulatory compliance monitoring, implementation projects, sustainability initiatives, and reporting.
- Leads the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS), chairs the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC), coordinates workplace inspections, emergency preparedness activities, fire drills, corrective actions, employee training, and regulatory compliance.
- Oversees Quality Management System (QMS) activities, including PPAP/FAIR submissions, RMA investigations, quality objectives, inspection oversight, customer satisfaction monitoring, and quality performance reporting.
- Provides operational leadership for continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimization, Lean thinking, automation (Excel/VBA and other digital tools), workload planning, document management, and maintenance of operational information systems.
- Develops operational performance metrics, management reporting, technical communications, and strategic risk assessments to support business decision-making.
- Guides, coaches, and develops team members using servant leadership principles, removing obstacles, supporting professional growth, promoting accountability, and enabling high-performing teams.
- Demonstrates leadership by example through a hands-on approach, willingly supporting operational activities whenever needed, including manufacturing support, packaging, assembly, shipping, warehouse activities, material handling, recycling, and other operational tasks that contribute to business success.
- Works independently with a high degree of initiative, identifying opportunities, solving problems proactively, and ensuring important work progresses without requiring constant direction.
- Performs other duties consistent with the objectives of Operational Excellence, Quality, Environmental Management, Health & Safety, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Operations Management, or a related discipline (Master’s degree considered an asset).
- Minimum 15 years of experience in quality, operations, manufacturing, or process improvement, including at least 10 years of progressive leadership responsibility.
- Demonstrated expertise implementing, maintaining, and auditing ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Strong knowledge of quality methodologies and core tools, including FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, FAIR, Root Cause Analysis, CAPA, and 8D.
- Demonstrated experience leading Occupational Health & Safety programs, Joint Health & Safety Committees, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance.
- Advanced analytical, reporting, and process automation skills, including Excel/VBA and other digital productivity tools.
- Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated servant leadership philosophy, fostering collaboration, trust, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic responsibilities with hands-on operational support in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Highly self-motivated, resourceful, and proactive, with the ability to work independently while effectively prioritizing multiple competing objectives.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and sound judgement, presenting facts and results objectively regardless of outcome while maintaining confidentiality and ethical decision-making.
- Demonstrated resilience, patience, and the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, ambiguity, changing priorities, and challenging situations.
- Lean Six Sigma certification, SAP experience, and sustainability reporting experience are considered assets.
